The Tempest 2.1 release includes the addition of a dispense delay option, a backfill tool, and a stacker control tab to the control software among other enhancements.

Dispense delay. A dispense delay can now be applied to your experiment. The dispense delay allows you to set the desired delay time before dispensing process started. Two delay priority types are available: User Input and Timer. User Input means the system pauses the dispensing process and waits for you to take further action; you can either continue or cancel the dispensing process at that point. Timer allows you to set the delay time (in seconds) as necessary to be applied to the reagent(s). Note that you need two dispense priorities to apply more than one dispense delay.

Backfill to well selection. The backfill volume can now be applied to the desired wells in your experiment. To do so, simply select the desired wells on the plate view and select the Backfill option.

Velocity and Z drop settings. We have added the Velocity X, Velocity Y, Velocity Z and Z-Drop menus to the Microplate Layout dialog to help you specify the required velocity and Z-drop settings for the Tempest to smoothly dispense onto certain plate types, such as, Curiox DropArray, 3456 and 1536-well plates.

Zoom level indicator. The zoom level indicator makes it easier to identify the zoom level applied to the plate view. You can see your current zoom level in the zoom box.

Integration service monitor via command prompt. You can now start the Integration Service Monitor using the command prompt in Windows. To do so, simply open the command prompt and type the Tempest directory location and -s after it. For example, C:\ProgramFiles\Formulatrix\Tempest\Tempest.exe -s.

Stacker Control tab. Some Tempest menus that were on the Valve Control tab (Load Position, Unload Position, Use Plate Stacker, Dispense All Plates, and Number of Dispense) have been moved to the Stacker Control tab. The Stacker Control tab has been added to help you easily configure the stacker settings as necessary.
